If you were me, you'd be tired too. After amazing whirlwind trips emcompassing San Francisco {Monterey, Carmel, Yosemite, San Simeon, Big Sur, Napa Valley}, Vegas, the Grand Canyon, Los Angeles, and Paris, I didn't give myself much time for jet-lag or sleep, and hit the ground running when I got home. And of course, the very Sunday evening I tell friends that i'm going to be calm and chill out for the coming week... my throat starts to hurt. Nose starts running the next day. I'm sick. Feverishly so. (BTW, if your mucous is yellow-greenish, it's a virus. Isn't that nice to know?)
So, for a few dark, damp, dreary days- perfect for napping-, I hunker down with Puffs Plus and copious fluids. (No movies, as I'm sleeping so much and can't concentrate on anything anyway.) Chicken soup, orange juice, and tea are stalwarts. Ginger tea, brewed with fresh ginger and maple sugar is advised- sounds pretty tasty, and it is. Onion... um... ade, strained from chopped raw onions soaked in lemon juice and honey, is also advised... and does not taste as bad as it sounds- more lemon and honey in the mix.
I tried the onion-aide 5 days into being sick, so i can't say if it really spurred a speedy recovery like it's supposed to. I'm only surprised I haven't heard anything (yet) about a raw garlic or shallot elixir. But then again, flu season is not that far away.
